We are very happy to announce a major milestone for the 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗧𝗮𝘅𝗶 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲, Europe's first bioprinter designed for microgravity environments.
We have successfully passed our Critical Design Review (CDR) with the European Space Agency - ESA.
This wasn't a simple sign-off. The review covered:
• System architecture
• Mechanical design
• Electronics & software
• Safety provisions
• Operational procedures
• Full compliance with requirements
Passing the CDR confirms that our design is mature enough to move into manufacturing, integration, verification and qualification which results a significant step forward for the project and for European space biotech.
Once operational, the BioForge will give researchers a dedicated platform to study bioprinting in microgravity, with applications spanning regenerative medicine, pharmaceutical development and long-duration human spaceflight. This milestone marks the transition from design to realization and brings Europe one step closer to indigenous microgravity bioprinting capabilities.
